Children’s National Pediatrician Given Child Advocacy Award By American Academy Of Pediatrics

Rachel Moon, MD, is honored for her SIDS research
BOSTON—Children’s National Medical Center pediatrician Rachel R. Moon, MD, FAAP, received the Dr. Susan S. Aronson Early Education and Child Care Advocacy Award at the 2008 American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition. Dr. Moon was recognized for her contributions to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) research and education. The award is given annually by the AAP to recognize individual pediatricians who have made significant achievements to the field of child care health and safety.
Dr. Moon has researched and published extensively on SIDS. Her most recent study, “Reducing the Risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in Child Care and Changing Provider Practices: Lessons Learned From a Demonstration Project,” appears in the October 2008 issue of Pediatrics.
Dr. Moon is the director of Academic Development and an associate chief in the Division of General Pediatrics and Community Health at Children’s National Medical Center. Additionally, Dr. Moon will become an assistant editor of Pediatrics in January 2009.
